Prix de l'éducation au développement durable 2017 UNESCO-Japon (en anglais)

UNESCO is seeking nominations for the third edition of the UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Endowed with a total of USD 150,000 to be divided between three recipients, the Prize aims to honour and showcase outstanding ESD projects and programmes worldwide.

The Governments of all Member States as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in official partnership with UNESCO can nominate up to three individuals, institutions or organizations engaged in Education for Sustainable Development for the 2017 edition of the Prize. The nominations will be assessed by an independent jury of five international experts on the basis of their potential for transformation, integration and innovation. Projects must have been running for at least four years, already show evidence of a high impact, be easily replicable and scalable and contribute to one or more of the five Priority Action Areas of the Global Action Programme on ESD (GAP).

Interested candidates should contact the National Commission for UNESCO of their country, or an NGO in official partnership with UNESCO.

The annual Prize is funded by the Government of Japan and was established in 2014 within the framework of the Global Action Programme on ESD. It was awarded for the first time in 2015.
