The Sustainable Student Alternative Association likes unusual vegetables, crooked, quirky and wacky. It aims to promote and engage a reflection on waste and recovery. It tries to achieve this goal through various actions within the University of Neuchâtel and in the public space. The association comes from the desire of a group of students to take concrete action against food waste, while questioning our consumption patterns and our relationship to the environment.
Currently, it organizes twice a week free food distributions within the University. They are addressed to everyone. These foods are donated by different businesses and farmers in the region. The commodity is consumable, but does not have the right caliber: the expiry date is exceeded or one of the six eggs broke in the box. Harvests of these foods are made by bike. The association operates on an exchange system: people who regularly benefit from the distribution of unsold products give back some of their time for the association, this to ensure its sustainability.
To also leave the university sphere and expand its network, the AED regularly organizes festive events in the city, such as Disco'Soupes, soup kitchens disqualified vegetables, or Gratiferia, free flea markets on the market. public place. She also collaborates in the organization of Repair Cafés, participative coffee-repairs.
All its actions are aimed at promoting the transformation and reuse of goods, promoting free services, encouraging meetings and sharing ideas and reducing waste.
