The 2025 Okayama Declaration: RCEs' Collective Commitment for Sustainable Futures
The 2025 Okayama Declaration, adopted at the 14th Global RCE Conference in October 2025, marks 20 years of collaboration among Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) on Education for Sustainable Development, United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) and its Global RCE Service Centre, the Ubuntu Committee of Peers, and numerous local, national, and international partner organizations. It renews their commitment to using education as a transformative driver for just, inclusive, and sustainable societies. Grounded in the philosophy of Ubuntu and aligned with global frameworks, the Declaration calls for collective, accountable action and was developed through an inclusive consultation process.
