New Council of Europe Online Course on Corruption Prevention
On 26 April, the Council of Europe introduced its newly launched HELP Course on Introduction to Corruption Prevention. The course is a free online learning programme developed by the Council of Europe’s Economic Crime and Cooperation Division (ECCD) in cooperation with the Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) Programme.
Designed for public officials, legal professionals, students, and anyone interested in integrity and good governance, the self-paced course provides a comprehensive introduction to corruption prevention and anti-corruption standards. It covers topics including ethics, conflicts of interest, lobbying, whistleblower protection, political financing, public procurement, and transparency measures through interactive exercises, quizzes, and real-world scenarios. The course, comprised of 13 modules, aims to strengthen understanding of the Council of Europe’s anti-corruption framework and promote ethical decision-making in public life. Participants who complete the approximately six-hour course receive a HELP Statement of Accomplishment. By promoting transparency, accountability, and effective institutions, the course helps accelerate progress on SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and supports broader efforts to strengthen democratic governance, public trust, and the rule of law.
The IAU Member institution University of Carthage contributed as expert consultants in the development process of the course.
