The SDG4U – Engaging SDGs for Transformative Education and Enhanced Sustainability in Universities project has made a significant contribution to advancing sustainability in higher education across Europe. Funded by the EU Erasmus+ programme and implemented from December 2022 to December 2025, the project supported universities in embedding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across teaching, research, campus operations, and community engagement.

A key outcome of SDG4U is the development of an online SDGs Mapping Tool, enabling institutions to assess and strengthen the integration of sustainability across curricula and research. The project also delivered new academic modules, pedagogical resources, and interdisciplinary learning activities to equip educators and students with sustainability competencies.

Through extensive capacity-building initiatives, including training seminars, workshops, and student hackathons, SDG4U empowered faculty, staff, and learners to act as sustainability leaders. In parallel, awareness-raising campaigns, case studies, and scientific outputs fostered a broader culture of sustainability across partner campuses.

Bringing together a diverse European consortium, SDG4U strengthened cross-border collaboration and left a lasting legacy of tools, networks, and practices. As the project concludes, its outcomes will continue to support universities in aligning with the SDGs and advancing transformative, equitable, and sustainable futures.
