About
Sumy State University (SumDU) is a higher educational institution in Sumy, Ukraine. It enrolls about 12,000 students pursuing pre-undergraduate, undergraduate, specialist, and master degrees in 55 majors and 23 fields. About 1,900 foreign students represent almost 50 countries worldwide. Sumy State University cooperates with more than 280 partners from 50 world countries, including the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Japan, South Korea, China and other countries of the world.
Sustainability
In the autumn semester 2022-2023, the training course "Sustainable Development: EU Practices" was presented for students of Sumy State University. The course was developed by the lecturers Oleksandra Kubatko and Iryna Ushchapovska within implementation of the Jean Monet module "Fostering EU Practices of Education for Sustainable Development through the Brand Language: Interdisciplinary Studies" (ESDbrandEU) of the EU Erasmus+ program.
Beyond training courses, the university has collaborated closely with the Institute of Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development of NAS of Ukraine, along with other leading universities in the region, to host a round table on sustainable development in Ukraine in 2015. The round table analyzed the current problems associated with the deepening of the decentralization process, especially in the implementation of an effective regional policy in the context of the crisis in the national economy, calls for preservation of the state, the prospects of Ukraine’s European integration, overcoming the problems of power supply, effective energy dialogue and energy security of the country and market promotion of environmentally friendly goods and services.
