About
University of Bahrain (UoB), established by Royal Decree in 1986, is Bahrain’s leading public university, educating over 30,000 students and offering a wide range of programs through its nine colleges—including Arts; Applied Studies; Business Administration; Engineering; Health & Sport Sciences; Information Technology; Law; Science; and the Bahrain Teachers College. Anchored in its vision to lead in education, knowledge society building, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, UoB’s mission emphasizes distinguished education, scientific research, innovation, and strong local and international partnerships. Its research strengths include engineering, information & computing technologies, environmental and health sciences, digital systems, and applied sciences. Key features include multiple modern campuses (Sakhir, Isa Town, Salmaniya), extensive accreditation of programs, and robust global academic collaborations.
As the national university of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the university has a mandate to lead the nation in terms of human capital development, leading innovation, contributing to economic development and leading society.Technology and the rapidly changing external environment, which is transforming teaching and research, are challenging the traditional view of the university. Students and wider society require year round access to high quality courses and flexible modes of delivery. The economic context of the GCC and challenges that we currently face of growing the private sector are also challenges that the University of Bahrain must respond to through focusing on producing a highly quality and skilled workforce and the next generation of leaders.
