Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas

About 

Founded in 2012 in order to improve existing work on the diversification of exports to the world market of Turkmen minerals, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University is a university located in Ashgabat and is the main university of the Turkmenistan oil and gas community. The university trains high-level  specialists, bachelors and masters for ministries and administrative  departments of the Oil and gas industry. The training of high-level specialists, the conduct of scientific  research at IOGU is carried out jointly with the research institutes of the  Academy of Sciences of  Turkmenistan and  the production enterprises of  the Oil  and gas industry, as well as with the  Research  institute  of natural gas of the “Turkmengas” State Concern.

International Profile & Sustainable Development

In order to raise the university's profile on the international stage, the university set the task to include itself in the international  list  of higher educational  institutions  by  2024, in particular on lists of instituions engaging in sustainable development.  The university  took an active part in the THE World University  Rankings  project, being given the status of "reporter" to signify the university's commitment to SDG rankings despite the university's present ineligibility to be ranked.
