Reto Verde - International Green Challenge 2025 for Latin American University Students

The Reto Verde - International Green Challenge 2025 is an annual event created by EQUIPU Red de Emprendedores and Pontifical Catholic University Peru (PUCP) - a network dedicated to fostering collective initiatives among university students across Latin America. It is an annual event that challenges students to develop innovative solutions to environmental and social issues. 

EQUIPU Red de Emprendedores, established in 2006, serves as a network dedicated to fostering collective initiatives among university students across Latin America. The Reto Verde competition is an annual event that challenges students to develop innovative solutions to pressing environmental and social issues, promoting a culture of sustainability and proactive problem-solving.

IAU member, Antonio Nariño University (UAN) in Colombia, has been an active participant of the competition. Angy Fernanda Farfán Ramírez, a Biotechnology student from Antonio Nariño University (UAN) collaborated with peers from Peru to secure second place in this competition.​  Angy and her team focused on mitigating the adverse effects of mining on river ecosystems in Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador. Their proposal not only addressed environmental concerns but also aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger, emphasizing the interconnection between environmental health and food security.​
