Book Launch: Education for Sustainability and Global Citizenship by Namrata Sharma

The UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainability and Global Citizenship at Universidad de San Andrés invites everyone to a special virtual book launch on Thursday, May 8 at 6 p.m. (Argentina time, GMT-3).

Namrata Sharma (SUNY at Oswego, IOE – UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society, UN Expert) will present her new book: Education for Sustainability and Global Citizenship: Intercultural, Ethical, and Justice-Based Approaches

This timely book explores the impact of the environmental crisis on education—formal, non-formal, and informal—through a human rights lens. Sharma introduces a forward-thinking pedagogical approach called value-creating global citizenship education, rooted in the UN Sustainable Development Goals and designed to inspire practical action. The book offers clear solutions for educators and policymakers, along with guidelines to integrate cross-cultural perspectives and build a global yet locally grounded vision.

The event will feature an introduction to the book’s key messages by Namrata Sharma, discussion with Carla Sabbatini, Executive Director of the UNESCO Chair, and an open Q&A session with the audience.
