RONDON PROJECT - UFOP students and teachers participation

A group of three professors and eight students from five courses at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP, IAU Cluster satellite) landed on July 16, 2019 in the city of Pedrão (BA). The team was a part of the Rondon Project - Operation Portal do Sertão. UFOP is one of the higher education institutions to integrate this year's edition of the Rondon Project. The group remained in the municipality until August 2nd, 2020.

The students' orientation was under the responsibility of professors Aníbal da Fonseca Santiago and Ana Letícia Pilz, from the Civil Engineering Department, and Edson Alves Figueira Júnior, from the Mechanical Engineering Department.

RONDON PROJECT - Developed by the Ministry of Defense, in partnership with state and municipal governments and public and private Higher Education Institutions (IES), the Rondon Project seeks to promote the development of less assisted communities. Besides stimulating local sustainability through knowledge of administration, economy and environment, prioritizing the formation of multipliers among producers, public agents, teachers and local leaders, it also contributes to the university formation. The project was launched in 1967 and initially operated until 1989. Since its relaunch in 2005, it has reached more than two million people, involving more than 22 thousand university students and teachers.
