Sustainability Education Research (SER)
The research within SER encompasses research projects in the internationally well-established research fields Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and Science Education in a sustainability context.
Sustainable development can be described as a “Development that meets the needs of the present while safeguarding Earth’s life-support system, on which the welfare of current and future generations depends.” (Griggs et al., 2013)
We research about forest gardens and ecosystem services, actions for sustainable development/sustainability, conceptions of matter, ESD in higher education, and complexity and responsibility for learning.
The theme includes studies of formal, informal and non-formal learning from preschool to adult age. The research is carried out across disciplinary boundaries together with actors outside the academy using a plurality of epistemologies and research methods.
