About
Circle U. founded in 2019 is a dynamic alliance of nine leading European universities, united by a shared commitment to build a European campus. The alliance operates as a non-profit organisation, with a central office based in Brussels.
The alliance of European universities brings together nine like-minded, comprehensive and research-intensive universities including:
- Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany
- King’s College London, United Kingdom
- Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium
- University of Belgrade, Serbia
- University of Oslo, Norway
- Aarhus University, Denmark
- University of Pisa, Italy
- University of Vienna, Austria
- Université Paris Cité, France
Circle U. will form an ethically-principled circle of knowledge, connecting education, research and innovation in service to society. Its' vision is to create a European University, in which students, staff and partners from civil society, businesses and the public sector jointly develop competencies and solutions to keep Europe and our planet healthy, peaceful, democratic and prosperous. Transnational learning experiences are of paramount importance in fostering a mindset that enables one to think and act effectively in an international and multicultural environment. More than ever, international collaboration is needed to tackle the major challenges we face. As comprehensive and research-intensive universities, Circle U. is uniquely equipped to use interdisciplinary approaches to address societal challenges. We will pool our existing strengths to substantially impact the sustainability agenda.
