About
TU Dublin is Ireland's first technological university, established on 1 January 2019. The university was formed by the amalgamation of three existing institutes of technology in the Dublin area – Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown, and Institute of Technology, Tallaght, taking over all functions and operations of these institutions. While TU Dublin maintains a strong global presence in the STEM disciplines, the University also supports the largest cohort of students of business, media, culinary arts, and the creative and performing arts in Ireland.
The university's research and researchers play active roles in informing policy and standards as well as incubating Ireland's entrepreneurial ecosystem: TU Dublin's transfer and business incubation activity has delivered over 400 sustainable news businesses with an economic value of almost €700 million.
Sustainability
DU Dublin is pursuing several sustainability-related initiatives on campus, some of which include:
Carbon neutrality: In line with the government Climate Action Plan 2019, TU Dublin is committed to delivering 30% emissions reduction by 2030 and to develop a roadmap to carbon neutrality by 2050. Read the TU Dublin Energy Policy.
Biodiversity: In line with growing international, European, and national commitments that seek to reduce human impact on the planet we share, each of TU Dublin’s three main campuses work in conjunction with their local municipality’s biodiversity action plan with interventions that aim to progress the local natural environment.
