AI and Environmental Sustainability in Post-16 Education

Launched on 24 June 2026, AI and Environmental Sustainability in Post-16 Education: A Practical Guide is a joint resource from EAUC and Jisc to help universities and colleges understand and respond to the environmental impacts of artificial intelligence. The guide encourages institutions to move beyond passive AI adoption by auditing AI use, asking suppliers for clearer data on energy, water and emissions, integrating environmental awareness into AI literacy, and strengthening governance, procurement and policy frameworks. It also offers practical tools, including supplier transparency questions and policy templates for more sustainable AI use.
