Global Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate Change 2025
On 9 August 2025, the Global Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate Change (GIYSCC) will take place over a 24-hour period, from 00:00 to 24:00 GMT, in alignment with the United Nations International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This unique online event will once again "circle the Earth with the Sun" across three 8-hour time zones, creating a continuous, inclusive dialogue by, for, and among Indigenous youth worldwide.
Now in its third year, GIYSCC builds on the momentum of its 2023 and 2024 editions, which engaged more than 2,100 participants from 136 countries and nearly 290 languages. The 2025 Summit, hosted by Future Earth with coordination by the Science Diplomacy Center™ and in collaboration with the Africa and Asia Regional Chapters of INGSA, continues to elevate Indigenous youth leadership in climate diplomacy and sustainability science.
This year’s dialogue will contribute to the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022–2032) and reinforce the importance of SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), with a planetary focus on equity, knowledge exchange, and global collaboration.
