Strathmore University Hosts Dialogue on Clean Energy

Strathmore University recently hosted a high-level public lecture on Emerging Clean Energy Trends and Opportunities Across Australia and Africa, in partnership with the Australian High Commission and Curtin University. The event celebrated 60 years of Australia-Kenya diplomatic relations and spotlighted the urgent need for clean energy solutions across Africa.

Australian High Commissioner H.E. Jenny Da Rin highlighted Australia's transition to a net-zero economy and the value of long-term policy and investment. She applauded the growing collaboration between Strathmore and Curtin University, particularly on green hydrogen research.

Curtin Vice Chancellor Prof. Harlene Hayne emphasized the role of universities in driving global climate solutions, while Strathmore Vice Chancellor Dr. Vincent Ogutu reaffirmed the university’s leadership in sustainable innovation, citing its solar energy initiatives and focus on green hydrogen.

A panel of experts from academia, industry, and policy explored clean energy strategies through the Triple Helix Model, stressing the need for local capacity, tech transfer, and supportive policy to unlock Africa’s clean energy potential.
