World Teachers' Day and UNESCO-Hamdan Award Ceremony

4 October 2024
In-person

In 2024, the World Teachers' Day will focus on the theme "Valuing teacher voices: Towards a new social contract for education." This year highlights the pivotal role of teachers and the need to incorporate their perspectives into educational policy and decision-making processes.

The day begins with an opening ceremony led by the Director-General of UNESCO, followed by messages from the International Labour Organization, UNICEF, and Education International. Discussions and activities on enhancing the role of teachers and recognizing their contributions follow.

The event also includes the awarding ceremony of the 8th edition of the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development and a panel.
