I light up less 2023 - University of Rome Unitelma Sapienza
"M'illumino di Meno" ("I light up less") is the National Day of Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles that is organized annually since 2005 to spread the culture of environmental sustainability and saving resources. The first edition was held on February 16, 2005 ,when, on the occasion of the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol ,Caterpillar Radio had the idea of asking listeners to turn off all unnecessary lights as a gesture of attention to the environment.
At the heart of "M'illumino di meno" 2023 were two themes of growing importance in the global panorama:
The reduction of consumption: to limit its environmental and economic impact and energy communities and the sharing of renewable and clean energy.
The large energy community of M'illumino di Meno was again this year made up of all those schools, universities, administrations, companies, associations, condominiums, citizens who, as per tradition, joined by switching off the lights, cycling, organizing environmental education activities, reducing energy consumption.
In 16 of February 2023, UnitelmaSapienza symbolically switched off the lights of its building .Subsequently, with the photos received from UnitelmaSapienza and from other universities, a collage was be created which will be published on the RUS website on the page dedicated to the initiative, to highlight the commitment and support of the universities.
The next M'illumino di Meno will be held on the 16 February of 2024.
