The Gaston Berger University (UGB), formerly known as the University of Saint-Louis, was established in 1990. It is located in northern Senegal, in the rural community of Gandon. The creation of UGB was driven by the need to provide the nation with the necessary professionals, contribute to employment policies, support scientific research at the national and international levels.
"Excellence in the service of development" is the motto of Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis. For the past thirty years (1990-2020), the university has been implementing this vision through its various components and aims to maintain this label of excellence in the years to come. This label has enabled the university to produce high-quality human resources whose skills are recognized worldwide.
