Early Career Ocean Professional (ECOP)
The Early Career Ocean Professional (ECOP) Network Programme is a global initiative that supports individuals who identify as being in the early stages of their careers in ocean-related fields. Established in 2021 and officially endorsed by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, ECOP plays a central role in integrating emerging professionals into global efforts to protect and sustainably manage the ocean.
The programme aims to elevate the voices and perspectives of new generations of ocean professionals by fostering knowledge exchange between experienced experts and early career peers. Through this intergenerational collaboration, ECOP advances inclusive approaches to ocean sustainability, contributing to the global vision of building "The Ocean We Want."
ECOP promotes professional development and networking by connecting early career professionals with institutions and initiatives at local, regional, and international levels. Within the framework of the UN Ocean Decade, the programme encourages innovative thinking and active participation in shaping sustainable ocean governance and stewardship.
