6th World Conference on Remedies to Racial and Social Inequalities
Between 3-5 September 2024, the University of the Western Cape (UWC) hosted the 6th World Conference on Remedies to Racial and Social Inequality. It was held in person but had options for virtual participation as well.
The conference was jointly presented by the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences of UWC as well as the Roy Wilkins Center for Human Relations and Social Justice of the University of Minnesota. Topics covered included (but not limited to):
- The impact of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic on economic, educational, medical, and social disparities towards ethnic minorities
- Inequality regimes and the state
- The changing nature of wealth, structural poverty and employment
- Social inequality and the SDGs
- Access to health care, education and personal security
