BME: International MSc Thesis Track in Sustainable Water Management
The Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) emerged as the most active institution in the 1st Joint Academic Call launched by the EELISA European University Alliance in spring 2026. Comprising ten European higher education institutions, with BME serving as the sole Hungarian partner, the alliance dedicated an overall fund of €237,000 to foster joint educational programmes, including double degrees, micro-credentials, course alignment, and novel joint curricula. Of the 35 proposals selected for funding across the alliance, BME will coordinate eight.
Underlining BME’s commitment to integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals into cross-border education, the university is co-developing the "EELISA International MSc Thesis Track in Sustainable Water Management." Led by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in partnership with BME and the Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (ZHAW), the initiative provides students with specialized, transnational training and research opportunities in sustainable water resource governance (SDG 6). This joint track demonstrates how European University Alliances can leverage institutional cooperation (SDG 17) to equip graduates with the critical technical skills needed to address urgent regional and global environmental challenges.
