Center for Research in Biodiversity and Tropical Ecology (CIBET)

The Center for Research in Biodiversity and Tropical Ecology - CIBET will generate scientific knowledge on biodiversity and tropical ecology, as well as articulate and promote the systematization and dissemination of this knowledge, with particular emphasis on continental ecosystems. In addition, it will have a central role in the protection, cataloging, and growth of the main university scientific collections of the different groups of organisms that make up Costa Rica's biodiversity. 

The foregoing will strengthen the teaching, research and social action activities of the University of Costa Rica, resulting in an increase in scientific production, the training of professionals, the awareness of the population and the generation of inputs for national and regional decision-making.
