Community Service at International Open University

At International Open University (IOU), all students pursuing a BA, BEd, or BSc degree are required to complete 216 hours of community service as a core component of their academic program. This requirement emphasizes the university’s commitment to fostering social responsibility, civic engagement, and practical application of knowledge beyond the classroom. Through these service activities, students contribute to local and global communities, supporting initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly quality education (SDG 4), reduced inequalities (SDG 10), and sustainable communities (SDG 11) - helping to translate their learning into meaningful, real-world impact.
