Durham Energy Institute (DEI) and its current projects
Durham Energy Institute (DEI) is a research institute at Durham University. It was launched in September 2009 to undertake multi-disciplinary cutting-edge research into energy technology and society. The Institute works to ensure sustainable and resilient low-carbon energy systems can be developed which meet the needs of different contexts and ensure fair access for everyone. It delivers understanding, leadership and solutions for energy decarbonisation and the transition to net-zero.
Ahead of the upcoming COP26, Durham University is conducting several active research projects and activities that relate to evidence of climate change within the Institute. For instance, they focus on working on developing innovative solutions for the energy transition, engaging schools and children in COP and Climate learning and ensuring a just transition to net-zero.
