Fostering inner dimensions for sustainability in higher education
This project, led by the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) at the University of Bern, brings together eight higher education institutions. Its goal is to approach sustainability through holistic teaching and learning (T&L) that foster the inner dimensions of learners. These dimensions include learners' mindsets, individual and collective values, beliefs, worldviews, capacities and more. While the status quo emphasizes knowledge and skills transmission, it does not acknowledge nearly enough this other side of inner dimensions.
Project activities thus far include:
- Thematic exchange and analysis of innovative T&L approaches aimed at fostering inner dimensions.
- Piloting these approaches in the partner institutions, and monitoring and adaptation of them.
- Synthesis of the experiences of piloting, self-reflection of the teaching formats, and consolidation of the results into a toolkit tailored to lecturers. This toolkit will be made available, alongside guidelines, steps, and recordings.
