GEODES Project, Training and Exchange with UNILÚRIO AND UNIPÚNGUÈ
The Geosciences, Development, and Sustainability: Africa and Europe Together (GEODES) Project is a European Union project through Program ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE-STRAND-1 - Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education: Strand 1. It is led by the University of Coimbra of Portugal, and includes a consortium of universities from Angola, Mozambique, Spain, and Italy.
The Department of Geology at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) is training teachers and technicians from the University Púnguè (UNIPÚNGUÈ) and University Lúrio (UNILÚRIO) in laboratory techniques, with emphasis on mineralogy, sedimentology, geochemistry, and geophysics.
In addition to laboratory training, UEM has also supported UNIPÚNGUÈ in curricular review of undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas ofgeosciences.
