Governing Nature-Based Climate Solutions: Prospects for a Just Green Transition in Kenya
The research project, abbreviated as JUCAN, is jointly implemented by the University of Nairobi (UoN), the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS), and the Denmark Africa Research and Impact Network (ARIN). It is funded by the DANIDA Fellowship Centre.
It focuses on the governance of the investments in Nature-based Solutions (NbS), which are actions that aim to benefit the climate, biodiversity, and people simultaneously. The project covers the three current NbS in Kenya, and the main research question is what the implications are of NbS governance for a just green transition in Kenya.
The project began on 1 April 2024 and will run until 31 March 2029.
