MIT World Peace University’s Solar Energy Initiative
MIT World Peace University’s Solar Energy Initiative is a campus sustainability action based in Pune, India. Through this initiative, the university has installed rooftop solar infrastructure across campus to reduce its reliance on conventional electricity and support the transition toward renewable energy. The initiative has contributed to MIT-WPU’s wider environmental goals by lowering the campus’s energy footprint and aligning institutional operations with India’s Net Zero 2070 vision and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. A real-time digital dashboard has also supported live monitoring, performance analysis, and fault detection, helping make solar energy use more transparent and efficient. By integrating renewable energy into daily campus operations, MIT-WPU has used its campus as a practical site for sustainability action and climate responsibility.
