MIT-WPU Co-Creation Programme: Empowering Students to Solve Societal Challenges

MIT World Peace University’s Co-Creation Programme was a mandatory experiential learning initiative for first-year undergraduate students in Pune, India. Held from 6–11 January 2025, the programme engaged approximately 6,500 students in collaborative work on societal challenges. Students worked in groups to identify complex problems, conduct stakeholder interviews, analyze causes, and present practical solutions to peers and external actors. The programme was developed with guidance from Prof. Dr. Joske Bunders, Director of the Co-Creation Research Institute at MIT-WPU and affiliated with the Athena Institute at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Dr. Rahul V. Karad, Executive President of MIT-WPU. By connecting academic learning with social responsibility, the programme encourages students to think critically about sustainability, community needs, and real-world problem-solving.
