MIT-WPU Rural Immersion Programme

MIT World Peace University’s Rural Immersion Programme is an experiential learning initiative for MIT-WPU students in Pune, India. Through visits to rural villages, students learn directly from local communities and gain a deeper understanding of rural livelihoods, cultures, and development challenges. The programme encourages students to connect classroom learning with real-world community needs while developing empathy, critical thinking, and social responsibility. Its practical focus includes areas such as water conservation, waste recycling, and renewable energy. By engaging with rural communities, students are encouraged to think about sustainability not only as a technical issue, but also as a social and community-based process.
