The ATTUNE project - Addressing University Sustainability
ATTUNE – Activate the University for Climate Change is a project promoting sustainable practices at universities and their campuses. The project is coordinated by Global Action Plan (GAP) Spain and supported by multiple partners. The core partners for the project include Universidad del País Vasco, University of Siena, University of Hildesheim, Özyeğin University, and Maria Grzegorzewska University. Additionally, ATTUNE is co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ initiative.
ATTUNE is a learning program that promotes direct actions for climate change on university campuses. By encouraging all members of university communities to engage, reflect on their habits and take action to reduce climate impact, the project aims to contribute to increased sustainablity in universities.
The project consists of an online course that has two phases, the first one invites individuals to consider and assess their on-campus habits to reduce carbon footprint. The second phase encourages universities to create mixed action research teams, consisting of students, academics, and other staff, to collaborate on a designated area to increase campus sustainability. Thereafter, the research teams workshop actions to tackle the identified gaps in sustainability on the campus.
