Toolkit for Implementation of the SDGs in the Whole Institution
GreenPeace recently published a handbook for school leaders with advise for practical implementation of sustainable development (SD) using a Whole Institution/School Approach (WIA/WSA). The Toolkit is designed to offer guidance and support in advancing sustainability in schools.
Grounded in our complex society, the publication emphasises the mission of schools to not only educate young people, but to provide them with the attitudes and skills necessary to participate in shaping a sustainable future. The Toolkit provides practical guidance for implementation through real school case studies that illustrate challenges, solutions, and the role of leadership in applying the approach. It also includes practical resources, such as self-assessment tools, templates, and further reading, to help schools evaluate their current practices and begin integrating the WSA in a structured way. Through utilising the whole school for implementation of SD, school leaders are encouraged to make sustainable development part of the school culture and integrated in campus operations.
