The University of Rome (Sapienza)'s Scientific-Technical Committee for Sustainability

"Sustainability is an issue that requires each of us to adhere to a new cultural paradigm that covers all fields, from science to the humanities," said Rectress Antonella Polimeni at the opening of the Committee's work.

Sapienza has set up a Scientific-Technical Committee for Sustainability to support concrete actions for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Committee, comprising lecturers from all areas and student reps and coordinated by the Deputy Rector for sustainability Livio de Santoli, began its work on March 12, 2021. The programme, to be developed in the short, medium and long term over six years, consists of educational activities, research and active presence in the local community. Sapienza wants to pursue a transdisciplinary cultural model capable of new interpretations of global issues.

The technical-scientific Committee brings together high-level expertise in all fields. It will also be available to the institutions for advisory activities in this particular phase that the country is going through, with the adoption of the Piano Nazionale di ripresa e resilienza (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) and with the recovery strategies, which will necessarily have sustainability as one of the main focuses.
