On 13-15 January 2027, the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development 2027 will take place in Nairobi, Kenya. Hosted by UNESCO and the Government of Kenya, in partnership with Japan and supported by Germany and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), the conference marks a significant time for the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for 2030 framework. 

The conference aims to renew global momentum for sustainable education, strengthen youth leadership, accelerate green and digital transitions, and shape the future of ESD beyond 2030. The event will bring together Ministers of Education, policymakers, youth leaders, educators, researchers, civil society organizations, private-sector representatives, and international partners for high-level dialogue and collaboration. Expected outcomes include a global ESD stocktaking report, a conference outcome document outlining collective commitments, a vision paper for the post-2030 education agenda, and stronger international partnerships to advance inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development through education
