The University of the Free State (UFS), founded in 1904, is a distinguished South African public university committed to the mission “In Veritate Sapientiae Lux” (“In truth is the light of wisdom”) and guided by core values of academic excellence, inclusivity, impact, and integrity. Serving approximately 39,600 students and supported by around 5,000 staff members, the university offers programs across seven faculties, including the Humanities, Economic and Management Sciences, Education, Law, Health Sciences, Natural and Agricultural Sciences, and Theology. UFS excels in research on materials chemistry, plant biology, environmental sciences, and health-genomics.
