About
The University of Rwanda (UR) was established in 2013 through a merger of seven former Public Higher Learning Institutions. UR is the largest and most comprehensive university in Rwanda with about 30,176 students (2023/2023) registered across six colleges.
Under the ACEII Project funded by the World Bank in 2016, the College of Science and & Technology (CST) has two African Centers of Excellence (ACE): the ACE in Energy for Sustainable Development and the ACE in Internet of Things. Under CST is also the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural Resources Management, launched separately via the Ministries of Education and Natural Resources and UNESCO.
Two other ACEs exist at UR due to the ACEII project. There is also the ACE for Data Sciences in the UR College of Business & Economics and the ACE for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science in the UR College of Education.
