Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi (YSMU), founded in 1920 (established as independent in 1930), is a public medical university in Yerevan, Armenia, dedicated to delivering high-quality medical education, research, and care. The university serves around 8,000 students plus over 2,000 postgraduate/clinical resident learners, supported by more than 1,200 academic staff (lecturers, assistants, invited specialists) including many professors and researchers. Its faculties cover areas such as General Medicine, Stomatology (Dentistry), Pharmacy, Military Medicine, Public Health, and Postgraduate & Continuing Education. Key research strengths include neuroscience, immuno-enzymatic / clinical-laboratory research, environmental, hygiene & toxicology studies, and morphologic (anatomical / structural) investigation. Campus features include major clinical hospital complexes (Heratsi, Muratsan, Mikayelyan), simulation training centre, laboratories, diagnostic centres, international student programs, and global partnerships with many medical universities and organisations.

For almost a century our mission has been to prepare highly educated and professional doctors to impact the world. We put a key on research and development of medicine as a science, as well as on our student’s practical knowledge. We believe that investing in our students strongly contributes to the development of healthcare system.

Having expertise and experience of 100 years behind, we want to open up boundaries and use our potential to become a world class university. We already have a lot of international students, who are beloved part of our YSMU community. We want to become a center, where young minds can come up with revolutionary ideas in sphere of medicine.
