Bahir Dar University (BDU), formally inaugurated in May 2000 through the merger of the Polytechnic Institute and Teachers’ College, is one of Ethiopia’s foremost public universities. It enrolls more than 52,800 students across a wide spectrum of programs and is supported by a substantial academic and administrative staff. The university offers studies through colleges and institutes—such as Agriculture & Environmental Sciences, Medical & Health Sciences, Business & Economics, Engineering & Technology, Education & Behavioral Sciences, Institutes of Textile & Fashion Technology, Land Administration, Disaster Risk Management, and others.
