The University of Tirana (Universiteti i Tiranës), was established in 1957 with 3OOO students. Today the university is the largest public university in the country , with six faculties, two institutes, 174 programs and around 23000 students.
Vision and Mission
The University of Tirana aims to remain a model of public higher education characterized by rigorous academic preparation and in-depth scientific research, an educational institution of first choice for students committed to transforming their lives and society.
The University offers a full range of bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs and contributes to the development of society through three pillars of the mission of public higher education, research, education and service to public, which constantly enrich and inform each other. The education is student-centered and fosters personal and intellectual growth, to prepare students for productive and responsible civic careers in a global society.
The university is also part of the International Consortium for the Equality between Women and Men of the AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) and is taking actions for the SDG5 about Gender Equality.
