About
Founded in 1579, Vilnius University is Lithuania’s oldest and largest higher-education institution. Its mission is to create, accumulate and disseminate knowledge through a vibrant university culture rooted in academic freedom and unity of research and teaching. The university serves about 24,600 students and employs around 3,400 academic staff. It offers a wide array of programmes across faculties including Economics & Business Administration, Law, Humanities (History, Philology, Philosophy), Mathematics & Informatics, Physics, Chemistry & Geosciences, Medicine and Life Sciences, as well as institutes for International Relations and Political Science.
