Center for Research in Marine Sciences and Limnology (CIMAR)
The Center for Research in Marine Sciences and Limnology (CIMAR) of the University of Costa Rica, develops scientific research to generate and disseminate new knowledge in marine and inland water sciences, which contributes to conservation, sustainable use and water intake and decision-making on aquatic resources, through an ecosystem approach and integrated management, which is projected through dissemination, social action and teaching, at a national, regional and global scale.
CIMAR aspires to consolidate its leadership position at the national level and become one of the ten leading entities/instances at the Latin American and Caribbean level, in the investigation of the marine and inland water sciences, whose production enriches the scientific heritage, effectively contributes to public policy, in the definition of conservation strategies and in the integral management of aquatic resources, through high-level research, greater international links and effective disclosure.
