Energy Management

With energy consumption generating over 90% of the campuses' carbon emissions there is much more work to done in managing USQ's energy use. By undertaking comprehensive audits of energy use, USQ can capture data to be used for planning and monitoring energy savings initiatives.

Web-enabled power management and sub metering software has been installed to monitor use of electricity, gas, and water in buildings on the Toowoomba campus. The stage rollout of metering will provide greater visibility of usage with the data gathered providing real-time performance and allow USQ to identify improvements by:

  • revealing energy inefficiencies & losses in facilities or individual loads
  • supporting proactive maintenance procedures
  • helping to allocate energy costs to buildings, departments or tenants
  • avoiding demand or power factor penalties.
