New Research Center for Sustainability and Transformation at Europa-Universität Flensburg
Europa-Universität Flensburg has opened its third major research hub, the Center for Research on Sustainability and Transformation (CREST) - a place where researchers work together to understand and shape the profound changes our societies are facing.
CREST brings together experts from a wide range of disciplines to explore how we can better respond to the pressing challenges of our time: Climate change, resource scarcity, social inequality, and biodiversity loss. Only by combining different perspectives can we fully grasp the economic and ecological dynamics behind these crises and develop effective pathways for change.
Research at CREST addresses topics such as sustainable food systems, consumer education, the energy and mobility transitions, post-growth concepts, and social justice. A key focus is on connecting global insights with local action: How can sustainable ideas be translated into real, workable solutions on the ground?
With CREST, Europa-Universität Flensburg is strengthening its role as a hub for innovative sustainability research—and supporting the next generation of scholars. The center helps secure external research funding and collaborates closely with regional and international partners to advance transformative solutions.
