Transforming Your Curriculum Through the SDGs

The Centre for Teaching and Learning at Queen's University has developed a comprehensive 3-step toolkit that provides practical guidance on how to implement the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into your teaching.

Departing from the pressing challenges of climate change and sustainability, this toolkit encourages educators to integrate the SDGs into course design using a transformative approach to equip students with the tools to tackle authentic, real-world problems.

The toolkit is made up of three steps and a number of sub-steps. First, educators are encouraged to explore the SDGs and select which goals to target. Next, using a holistic six-dimension framework educators are to develop and formulate SDG learning outcomes. Lastly, educators can use a worksheet to develop an SDG-informed curricula and align course components with SDG learning outcomes.

Using this toolkit can facilitate the development of teaching and learning activities that are meaningful and relevant, while accelerating the progress of the SGDs.
