Winner of International Green Gown Awards 2022

De La Salle Lipa wins the 2022 International Green Gown Awards with their entry titled “Embracing Our Shared Humanity: Championing Our Indigenous Adopted Community (Mangyan Tribe).”

The project was recognized under the “Benefitting Society” category for small institutions because of its outstanding efforts in promoting sustainability, education, and community empowerment among the Mangyan indigenous communities in Oriental Mindoro. Through its Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Program, DLSL implemented initiatives such as teacher training, educational support, and livelihood opportunities that helped improve the quality of life of the community while preserving their culture and identity.

The award-winning initiative reflects several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 11: Sustainable Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By combining social responsibility with sustainability, DLSL demonstrated how educational institutions can create meaningful and lasting change through collaboration, inclusivity, and service to marginalized communities.
