Call for Proposals: NORRAG Policy Insights

NORRAG, SDSN, IAU and Columbia University, in collaboration with UNESCO’s Greening Education Partnership (Higher Education Working Group), are inviting proposals for contributions to a forthcoming NORRAG Policy Insights publication. The call focuses on scaling sustainability in higher education, exploring how universities can be transformed to address environmental challenges through policy and governance reforms at institutional, national, and global levels. 

Contributors are encouraged to submit proposals for short, policy-oriented papers that provide evidence-based insights and practical recommendations on topics such as governance, financing, curriculum reform, research, and regulatory frameworks. The process begins with the submission of an abstract, after which selected authors will be invited to develop a full policy brief of approximately 800 words. 

The deadline for abstract submissions is 20 May 2026, submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Full policy papers (800 words) are due by 30 June. Selected papers are expected to be published in November 2026.

By promoting policy-relevant research and actionable recommendations, this initiative supports the integration of sustainability principles into higher education systems. It also contributes to building institutional capacity and accelerating systemic change toward more environmentally responsible and resilient universities.
