Coastal Conservation and Protection Project

Led by The Federal University of Technology, Akure (Nigeria), the Coastal Conservation and Protection Project is a strategic initiative focused on restoring and protecting Nigeria’s coastal and marine ecosystems. By adopting sustainable ocean practices and integrating climate resilience, the project aims to ensure long-term ecological health and support thriving coastal communities.

As part of the UN Ocean Decade, this Decade Action prioritizes the preservation and restoration of coastal habitats, the enhancement of marine biodiversity, and the mitigation of climate change impacts on vulnerable coastal populations. In doing so, it also supports sustainable economic development in coastal regions across Africa.
