HEA Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Spotlight Series

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Spotlight Series, in collaboration with higher education institution across the Island of Ireland, showcases innovative and inspiring ESD initiatives taking place in the sector.

This series celebrates the vital role of higher education institutions in embedding ESD and responding to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through curricula, research, and campus practices, addressing key global challenges and driving transformative action that benefits students, academic communities and society at large.

Each week, a featured institution will share its unique and creative approaches to ESD, highlighting initiatives across a wide range of disciplines to inform policy and practice, providing insights for leaders, educators, researchers, and those supporting teaching and learning.

The series aims to fosters collaboration, drive progress, and document best practices supporting higher education institutions in adopting and adapting innovative approaches to ESD. Aligned with the Second National Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development โ€“ ESD to 2030 and the UNESCO ESD Framework to 2030, the series emphasises transforming learning environments to be more inclusive and sustainable while promoting collaboration, peer learning, transformative pedagogies and interdisciplinary approaches.
